What will unite humanity?

Will it take massive natural disasters and tragedies for us to finally put aside our differences in caste, religion, race, and geography and unite in a needto survive? Or will we be sufficiently inspired by love, empathy, and compassion to do so?

What will it take to unite us?or will we ever?

Has humanity ever been united by anything ?

We've never been united by war; pestilence; economic growth; free market economics; faith....

@Picklebobble2 9/11 seemed to bring people together, but even then you had people acting stupid

@Picklebobble2 Any idea what could unite us then?

@Renkon Not really. Wealthy nations have always ensured there's a distinct dividing line between them and their poorer equivalents.

Pestilences like Smallpox; Mumps; Polio Measles and others are still prevalent in some poorer nations even today. Despite the existence of vaccines for many of them being in existence a long time now.
So there's a medical disparity.

Economics ? Wealthy nations either taking over excavations and mining and refining then selling the end product at a price the host nations couldn't possibly afford.

In fact that scenario is true of just about anything from Africa exploited by huge Western corporations from fruit to coal to oil.

Even covid did more damage in poorer areas of the world.
