if someone online has a perception of you ' not based in truth' how should you respond

there's been the odd time i've encountered this online, someone who thought things about me which were not true, they had a perception of me which was untrue. how should you respond to a situation like that?

Online, if you care about them, talk with them. See if they will listen. My advice regardless if online or not if you care about them. Be prepared, they don't have to agree with you. Now this, especially online, if it's someone who just has a random idea of you then pay it no mind.
