Why don’t people like straightforward/blunt people?

I mean even when someone uses tact, they still get disliked.
I’m a honest person and when someone ask for my job opinion or the truth, that’s what they’re going to get and I’m not sorry for being honest. I do use tact though.
My best friend asked me why a lot of people don’t like her new “friend”. Yea I quoted friend because that girl didn’t respect her. So I didn’t sugarcoat it so I told her the blunt truth kindly, but she didn’t take it well. She got upset that I told her but I’m her best friend, I gotta tell her the truth. She didn’t speak to me for a while but later realized I was right about that girl that used me and took advantage of her and quite frankly, didn’t even she didn’t even like her that much. I can tell she didn’t like my best friend and was jealous of her success and everything. I’ve been trying to tell her for a while and also when her boyfriend was no good for her and deserved a real man.

People often like polite, walking-on-eggshells types more, but they generally respect blunt and honest people more as long as that bluntness doesn't spill over into cruelty.

i am criticized for the same thing. you have to be true to yourself. its too bad that people don't value honesty

@akindheart Yeah you’re right.

Because they are straightforward they are honest and they are blunt and the people they are talking to that can't accept it get their little feelings hurt because they feel words cause pain and sorrow when they're just words and they can't accept it and I look at like it is what it is grow up accept it that's how it is

@Wolffy Right! They’re not children anymore. They’re ADULTS so they should be about to handle bluntness and the harsh realities of the world. Nobody should sugarcoat things to adults. Hell, not even kids and teenagers, but adults definitely be brutally honest. Grow up! I agree with you.

People don’t want the truth. They want others to tell them what they want to hear, to validate what they think and feel. People need their egos stroked, they need to hear how right or important they are
ElizabethBabe1994 · 26-30, F
@Wantingwidow That doesn’t work that way. Also when people get upset when people set boundaries or don’t like the fact that someone calls them out for their bullshit. If they don’t like that, tough shit! The world needs more blunt people.
Wantingwidow · 56-60, F
@ElizabethBabe1994 oh trust me I agree
Matt85 · 36-40, M
Sometimes they do
ElizabethBabe1994 · 26-30, F
@Matt85 if those people do than that’s a good thing. We need more straightforward people to call it as it is

@ElizabethBabe1994 Different cultures will provide different results. Find one you like. :)

I don't think tactful people who give an honest answer when asked are disliked. It's usually those who give an unsolicited opinion without being asked or are generally harsh with no regard to the feelings of others.
Also, when a person doesn't talk to you when you tell them truth they find hard to accept it doesn't necessarily mean they dislike you. They might just need time to process it.

What always trumps honesty is courtesy
People are stupid and think their friends must tell them what they want to hear
ElizabethBabe1994 · 26-30, F
@BeefySenpie Right? Those people don’t give a shit. Not true friends. True friends tell them what they NEED to hear, even if the truth is painful.
SarithBorn · 18-21, M
Love them no bollocks just Truth. 😇

I think most of the people today younger people don’t have thick skin. They take everything so personal it’s just what I think.
ElizabethBabe1994 · 26-30, F
@Funlov It’s your opinion but it seems true. When we were children, we were tougher, well for my opinion.
Funlov · M
@ElizabethBabe1994 yes I think so
Funlov · M
@ElizabethBabe1994 like to think I’m still lol 😉
SlaveEt · 36-40, F
Because sometimes the truth sucks and having to face it is harder than a sugar coated lie.
ElizabethBabe1994 · 26-30, F
@SlaveEt Yep. They need to get over it and grow up! Just like when close and best friends, they’re supposed to be blunt and honest with you, otherwise they aren’t really your friends.
The empire controlling the world is based in obvious lies.
