I feel bad about something
Early this morning, actually earlier than my typical Saturday morning I arrive at work. Usually, I’m the first one there.
But I see a car that I don’t recognize in the parking lot, a Porsche.
I enter through a secret side door, and upon entering….I see no one and I hear nothing.
Quiet.
Everything is still.
I start my morning routine by moving some stuff around, by default, I am making noise. As I go past one of the rooms (which had its door wide open)….a dark quiet room….I startle someone who was asleep in there. I don’t know this guy. He’s on the slim side with longish hair.
He’s clearly startled by my presence….I’m a big hulking guy….and we don’t know each other. I try to keep the peace and maintain a cool and collected atmosphere…I politely greet him, and I continue about with what I was in the middle of doing.
I finish my early morning routine….and return to find him, but he’s gone, and no sign of the Porsche outside.
A couple of my coworkers show up and I let them this.
They know him and suspect that he’s homeless. They immediately want to confront and reprimand him.
I feel bad, I want to help him find actual help.
There’s a phrase that I used to my coworkers
“Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.”
