I can hold a conversation but if the other person isn’t engaging it goes south because I’ll lose interest and get tired of working so hard to keep the convo going and I jump ship.

I feel the same accept sometimes i think i say too much and people just want to get away from me its why a lot of times i won't start a conversation let the other person start it

A conversation is like starting a fire with flint stones .. Reason why we say "To strike up a conversation".. Both stones need to rub enough to warm up to start a fire ..

You’re smart for avoiding those topics. I only discuss them with people who aren’t trying to change others. It’s possible to be friends with conflicting views, but very rare. @SageWanderer
