If we want to save black lives the single most effective thing we can do, at least in the short run, is to bring back proactive policing and enhance its funding.

@irishmolly72 I've seen stats showing over 80% of blacks want the same or more police involvement in their neighborhoods. It's the criminal element driving BLM.

@badminton Try googling "chicago child shot in face" and see what comes up. There's so many it's hard to find any specific event. I don't care if gangstas shoot each other. The problem is they have shitty aim and the bullets don't stop until they hit something.

@IronHamster And the children are sometimes used as shields, with tragic results. Black lives really do matter but it must not be just a slogan used by demagogues. We need to look at the cold hard facts.

@JesseInTX you know, I totally agree with your observation, but you are blind to how much similarity there is between the way the current administration is acting like the German Socialist Republic, later called the Nazi Party. If you have the time, and inclination, to read history, I suggest you read Ullrich's book on the rise of Hitler!

@samueltyler2 my minor is in history so I’ve read plenty of it and still do. If you really think that the current administration is mirroring the rise of the nazi party in 1930s Germany then I can’t help you. Nor can you help yourself. You are blinded by your hatred of a man and what is being done at local levels to build a national movement. Socialist mayors and councils allowing and encouraging violence and destruction to further a political agenda on a national level which includes total government control. A modern day example is Venezuela. Time to end this conversation. It’s clear from past conversations as well we don’t agree on many things. I already reported what the media AND the store where Floyd attempted to use the bills reported. AND Floyd also attempted to empty his pockets of the bills as was clearly shown in the photos. Why would he do that unless there was some KNOWN problem with them? @samueltyler2

Yes. More funding into community projects (i.e. The Democrats pockets) and less into policing will result in more crime which in turn will be blamed on the police. SO they’ll defund them further for more community projects (i.e. The Democrats pockets) and then on the next round they’ll blame it on the Irish. Because lord knows the Irish have never been enslaved , mistreated or had any share of misery. We all know those Irish give nothing back to the community. @irishmolly72 From my experience I think it is liberal run governments and education systems that cause the biggest problems. In the 60's I lived in Omaha which at that time was a conservative run city and police force. Riots started due to instigators from Chicago. The riots were put down quickly when the police captain stood on top of a squad car and fired a burst with a Thompson submachine gun and told the rioters to get there asses home or there were going to be worse things to happen. The riots subsided that night.

They've had majority of control of the city and state of IL for decades and have done nothing positive to address it.

One of the biggest efforts .. relocating Chicago tenement dwellers to smaller towns across the state, has done nothing but spread the problems to other communities.

The state is a case study in governmental failure.

@Stevy There are abuses in law enforcement for sure. But the dramatically greater risk to poor people is the risk from gangs and broken communities. Poor people should be welcoming police with open arms!
