Why do some preach something yet don't really fully live it?

We love the aesthetic of wisdom more than the work of living it. I say I want to be alone but spiral into existential dread if someone leaves me on read for too long. I write sad stories about letting go and then cling to decade-old nostalgic memories like they’re relics. Nobody’s living their truth 24/7. Half of us are barely living at all.

If you preach perfection there is no way you can live up to it...

Perfection is what is right and best yeah....

So why think the message can be undermined because the messenger falls short of it....

The message should be judged on the message it'self...
Some? I'd say MOST! Welcome to social media.

Probably think its the right way of living but cant get to that point even tho they want to. Theres also a lot of propaganda, people payed to spread their agenda just for money not because they think its right. Another thing i can think of is fitting cuz of fear of discomfort and being judged lol

Because it's super easy to talk it, it takes no effort. People do it every waking hour. Probably wishful thinking, trying to convince themselves and others or to prove something. It can be deceit/self deception or a feeling of superiority. Social media is an convenient pulpit.

Mostly insecurity I think

"Do as I say not as I do"

Ideals are just that. Few understand the difference between ideals and beliefs.

Yet both are impossible to live up to. There is no such thing as perfection unless you consider everything as perfect.

Paul said in Romans 7:19
"For I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want is what I keep on doing".
LordBarbossa · 36-40, T
"if I convince others to do this, it's as good as me doing it since I caused it"

Or something like that? Idk

They're reasons
1. Might be a hypocrite
2. They want the best for others but doesn't realize they themselves beed such help and guidance
3. They do it to encourage themselves to be a better person

A lot of people preach the Christian faith yet forget the rules on kindness, they preach in one breath and encourage judgement and hate in the next

Should the two be congruent?

It suggests an ethical norm.

They don't practice what they preach
Cos they're only human.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
Guilt, mostly. They feel bad for not really living it, so they talk about it extra loud.
FloorGenAdm · 51-55, M
It's stuck in their head...like a song.

Insincere pretentiousness.. maybe they want to but they don't 😬 idk

About the only person who lived what He preached was Jesus Christ. Everyone else has failed in that endeavour.
AngelUnforgiven · 51-55, F
Because its easier to say, than do
SW is filled with such people

Why is moral relativism accepted in modernity?
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
