do you think it's 'shameful' or 'embarrassing' to contact a befriending service

i got in touch with a mental health charity recently over my circumstances of having psychological problems, living alone and having no support network besides my elderly parents who live far away and they gave me the number of a befriending service a service that can assign people to go places with you, if you're alone like me.

but i have my pride and i thought would society see me as a charity case if i used a befriending service and would it be embarrassing for me?

No not at all embarrassing..I think many would admit they'd enjoy a service like that. To find friends is so hard these days and I've read many people saying they have no one in their life. I think I'd sign up myself for a friend.
