I keep hoping the tariff trade war makes some kind of sense that’s just beyond my grasp.

But then I keep remembering that tariffs were specifically placed on Heard Island and McDonald Island…uninhabited territories of Australia, populated only by penguins. 🤔

Before I was willing to just handwave it. But the formula published by the White House doesn't actually have anything to do with tariffs, just trade imbalance. A trade imbalance for most of these countries with the world's largest economy would make sense, wouldn't it? It shows that very little thought was actually put into the numbers, and this is just expensive theater.
