The First Cut is the Deepest.

Knowing that I love you,
Is it enough?
Knowing that my heart speaks your language,
But the words just get lost in the in-betweens.
Our conversations, more often than not,
Are lost in translation,
The volume turned down too low for me to hear.
Muted.

But your eyes tell the story,
Deep, dark, and full of stars.
And your tears fall ever so slowly,
I kiss the salty drops from your cheeks,
Then I kiss your lips-
Like it's the first time.
Because you know, the first cut is the Deepest.
-Kelly.

Cat Stevens, very big in the 1960's and 1970's, especially in the UK. Converted to Islam, as Yusuf Islam after a near drowning event. He's been making z bitbof a comebavk. Well worth a listen, especially his earlier stuff.

@22Michelle "Tea For The Tillerman" and "Teaser & The Firecat" were fixtures in every student flat!

@ArtieKat I remember them well. I even remember his earlier stuff like Matthew and Son.

@22Michelle Indeed.

@ArtieKat I'm always struck by how some big, and not so big, stars / acts of the 1960's snd 1970's are so well remembered, and yet others, like Cat Stevens, seem to have been forgotten by many people.

@22Michelle As far as I know he got a huge audience when he did Glastonbury a few years ago. I personally have never stopped listening

@ArtieKat Gladtonbury there's always a decent audience. I'm talking about the time prior to his comeback when a mention of his name got blank faces. It's good he's now being remembered.
