It wouldn’t matter because no word used against white people towards white people will ever pack quite the same power and modern historical context as a word like the N word. It is a totally incomparable thing. Not even remotely close honestly.
@brokensignal And "cracker" originated with wealthy whites, directed to poor whites who often served as overseer—it referred to the "crack" of the whip.
"Race" is unimportant to me so I feel no need to have a nicname for my white friends. I'll just call them by their names. The reason blacks started using the N word is to appropriate the language of contempt and destroy its power.
@JimboSaturn Personally, I think it was a mistake because the word hasn’t lost any of its power. White supremacists and other racists still use it with hateful intent.
I don’t play that way. If they want to use that name then let them. That word is a word meaning useless person. That’s what was and still is a ugly word. Not for what the definition is, but what it stands for. I never used it.
Not particularly, but many white folks already do use the word in a similar way. Some people from from Florida, Georgia and a few other southern states, proudly refer to themselves as "'_______' crackers", and use in an affectionate sort of way. Many white people use it a clearly insulting way, towards those who reside in the South.
There are many reasons why I do not think the two words can be compared, as far as their power to hurt and attempt to demean.
I don’t even understand where you’re coming from with that. Are you looking for somebody to say a racist word? I don’t understand where you’re coming from
Some do. And both words come from the same source—wealthy whites. Incidentally, black people with self-respect don’t use the N word, it’s low class.
