"Parliament-Funkadelic" 😎

calicuz · 51-55, M
@Starcrossed

Awesome, I can only imagine. 🙂
dubkebab · 51-55, M
@calicuz Once I was sitting near the stage door smoking reefers with some other street urchin types when a white rental van whooshed up and out steps George Clinton in a haze of rainbow dreads and layers of velvet.He hits the proffered peace pipe,giggles a bit,nods to security and takes our whole crew of 5 or six inside.He turned left to go onstage-we turned right -into the front row. Righteous!
The one kid was kind of griping that George kept his pipe,but I'm like-"Bro... we just got elevated with Dr.Funkenstein! We'll be telling this story for years to come."

@dubkebab

Great story, great memories. 🙂

The Beatles.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Degbeme definitely!👍
@Degbeme Me too, and I came pretty close. When I was a child they performed at the Cow Palace near here. Pop tried to get tickets for me, Mom and himself, but almost from the moment they went on sale they sold out.
Degbeme · 70-79, M
@bijouxbroussard I could have had tickets when the played Maple Leaf Gardens But my parents said no.

Tool
ArtieKat · M
@Nimbus I saw Pink Floyd loads of times in the late 60s and early 70s - in fact the first concert I ever went to was the Floyd in 1968/69 when Dave Gilmour had just replaced Syd Barrett. I also saw the world premiere of "Atom Heart Mother" at the Bath Festival in June 1970
Nimbus · M
@ArtieKat

I'm jealous ;)

I like their early stuff like 'Saucerful of Secrets' just as much as I do the later stuff.
Not every album is fantastic but to have so many that are is!
ArtieKat · M
@Nimbus What insults will you throw at me when I tell you that the first gig was at the Phil in Liverpool??? 🤣😂😁
Probably Led Zeppelin or Bob Marley
ArtieKat · M
@Gumbodidlo I first saw Led Zep at the Bath Festival in 1970. One of the loudest gigs I've ever been to was at the Alexandra Palace in December 1972
@ArtieKat i am a bit too young for those. I'm jealous but younger 🤣🤣
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Gumbodidlo very nice..
ArtieKat · M
The only ones that I can think of were the Beatles - I was just a bit too young. I have seen virtually everyone else, from the late 60s onwards.
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@ArtieKat wow now there’s a guy that could play..
ArtieKat · M
@Primnproper On the same bill, but different days were the likes of The Doors, Moody Blues, The Who, Miles Davis, Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, Jethro Tull, Ten Years After, Free.....
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@ArtieKat wow, that would have been awesome!
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Three of the four members are dead, but I wish I could have seen the original line-up of MOUNTAIN -- Felix Pappalardi, Leslie West, Corky Laing, and Steve Knight

@kodiac As I posted above: the first concert I ever went to - as a 15-year-old - was Pink Floyd in 1968/69 when Dave Gilmour had just replaced Syd Barrett.
kodiac · 22-25, M

Pink Floyd and the Eagles
@ArtieKat Reminder me to never go see Neil Young
ArtieKat · M
@mindlessdrifter I think he learned his lesson on that tour!
@ArtieKat God I hope so
dubkebab · 51-55, M
I had tickets to see The Who with The Clash opening at Shea Stadium in '82...
but Mom wouldn't let me go,just like her Mom refused to let her see The Beatles at Shea in '63.
So that one still kind of stings...but I do have the recordings.

Plus I've been to so many great concerts-Lee Perry a dozen times,fifty Grateful Dead shows,P-Funk,Fishbone aplenty,Bad Brains,The Slits,The Selector,Operation Ivy,Desmond Deker,Derrick Morgan,Steel Pulse,Culture...

So,umm,sign me up for Howling Wolf,Robert Johnson and James Brown in his prime.
I keep telling African Head Charge to come to America,but they don't seem to hear my pleas. Someday!
Bowenw · 61-69, M
Queen and Meatloaf are the first ones that come to mind. Also Tom Petty, Jim Croce, Harry Chapin, John Denver, and Bob Marley.

@Starcrossed I carried Jimmy Buffet's guitar once about 10 years ago,missed most of the show due to other work chores,but I did snag a few of his personalized tour picks from the side pocket,heh heh.

HotPizza71 · 51-55, M
Had booked to see Tears for Fears last year,but one member broke a rib two weeks before,so that ended that dream.
Did see George Michael in his last but one concert though
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@HotPizza71 you’ve changed your avi! Maybe you will get another chance to see them if they still tour together.
