I think only because it is popularly associated with religious dogma. My eldest niece is on the autism spectrum and elements of homeschooling have been important to ensure she continues in education. I think it can work well, but I wouldn't like to remove a child from school completely. It's an important part of growing up and gaining some independence.

@SunshineGirl my children are homeschooled and I work independent skills by doing clubs and sports and classes around the community. I back out and let them have their time there. We also are not religious homeschoolers
