Understanding complex subject matter is maybe the least important part of the job.

@WintaTheAngle Misplaced sarcasm: How much of your own learning came from direct personal experiment/experience? (As opposed to just reading or being told about it). Nearly everything we 'know' comes as some form of hearsay.

@Really I try so hard to be hands on for exactly that reason. We travel a lot. We learned about national parks and visited them. We plan to do the grand canyon too. I took them through pieces of the trail of tears so they could feel the air. We plan to visit Salem too.we are learning angles by building things

@Really My education was sufficient to earn me an engineering role in the Royal Air Force for 17 years and paid for the house my wife and kids call home.

@WintaTheAngle Not sure why you're telling me all this stuff about your education. I had a good education and became a chartered professional engineer. Big deal. My publicly funded, open to everybody social-system high school celebrated its 200th anniversary some years ago and I thought that was quite a big deal.
I don't believe in generalizing about who would or would not benefit from home schooling. I think individual situations vary and are best fitted by individual solutions.
