Anyone experienced old-school fake-accounts faking suicide attempts/deaths?

I’m interested in exploring and sharing experiences I had myself. People faking attempts or even deaths to emotionally or psychologically hurt people or get sympathy & attention.

My experience happened on MySpace and the person used multiple fake accounts to make it convincing.

I kinda got closure… except for the accounts being fake, so I guess the suicide stuff was too?

@WoWgirll When I was 16, in 2009 on MySpace a bunch of accounts pile-on attacked me. Badly. They basically told me that “two of their friends” had “tried” or were “trying” to “kill themselves” and they were all blaming me. It made me leave the site. I had a breakdown & got diagnosed with OCD (debatable if that wasn’t just my autistic/ADHD brain not coping with guilt & feelings of responsibility) I kept trying to get *closure* & *find* answers. I traced a few of the accounts to Facebook. They were all weird, evasive, & sus…
…basically, I ended up reverse image searching. I found out all the Facebook & MySpace fake accounts were fake (catfishing & trolling) I found a weird person who was probably behind it all. I kinda figured out by asking her cautiously & anon about “things” she never admitted anything direct, as I was careful. But she told me she made 200 fakes & moved them from MySpace to Facebook. Also she fessed up to lying generally. It was surreal. She still uses the fake accounts today!

@WoWgirll even though they accounts were “fake” - the fucked up thing is I still worry it was true. That one of their friends really attempted/ or died. Probably trauma. I never got full closure or a way to 100% expose it as a lie… finding out the accounts were fake probably helped expose it.

The ringleader “fake-account” “Krystal Reyes” is still on MySpace & Facebook. beautiful_x0_sensational & beautifulx0sensational

@WoWgirll yeah 😢 left me with trauma - fearing that someone died. It felt soooo real!!!
