Why I hate catfish….

You have probably noticed that I have this thing about calling out catfish.

In 2014 one of my friends was talking to a guy she met online and they were in an online relationship. She seemed really happy. He was a good looking guy, they talked on the phone a lot. Anytime they were supposed to have a video call there was always a reason why he couldn’t. Something would come up, he wasn’t feeling well or would have to go into work. This went on for quite a long time.

She didn’t tell me that they hadn’t seen each other on video. It was about 18 months into their relationship and she was pretty upset that day. I asked her why and she told me what was going on.

I had watched the show catfish since it came out so I said we should see if we could try and find the pictures online. We did, we found them online.

She was really crushed by this. She confronted John about this and asked him why he would lie. He said he didn’t want her to know what he really looked like. Then that was it. He just disappeared and he was gone. She never found out who he really was, we knew he was a man. He sounded like a man but she was left broken hearted and with trust issues.

I would just hate to see someone else deceived that way.

What do you all think about catfish? That’s my experience with them.

Obviously people with some serious issues. Your friends example it is a shame maybe just some guy very insecure in his looks etc so lives via another image. Maybe all was lies so married, kids etc and just sadly unhappy but unwilling to leave his relationship and be honest. Or maybe darker and there was some scam at the end intended the old "I need money" or "thanks for the video of you nude I'll expose you to your friends on Facebook unless you pay... "

There are some i see on here, the obviously stolen pics fron online or badly photoshopped with the same 3 clear face pics.

@OldBrit he never asked her for money thank goodness and she doesn’t part with her money easily. She’s the person that will call or text me because she wants to buy something for herself and needs to justify it.

I am thinking he wasn’t happy with his appearance or the married thing. She was so hurt.

@iamonfire696 which I can understand totally the deceit is the thing isn't it. Just be honest why's that so hard?

@OldBrit I wish people would be honest about that. That’s why I point out the fakes. Maybe I should let them be though? I am not sure what the right thing to do it.

@iamonfire696 I just pass by them. They'll just open another account (like the one famous one in here keeps doing) but I'd rather know the one that I've rumbled.
