I live in a block of units, 30 all up.

80% of tenants are new arrivals to Australia.
Seems to me none of the new arrivals have any respect for doing the right thing.
Every week, the bins are full to overflowing because they are very, very wasteful.
Every week food scraps are going in the recycling bins because they do not care.
I have previously pointed out to them that food scraps go in the red bin.
I have been told, "Mind your own business" and "Why do you care"?
Really not much can be done to stop this wanton disrespect.
If there is no proof of who the main culprits are then how can action be taken.
Trying to negotiate with council to allocate more bins.
Every week it is like this.

Yeah it's very bad here as well.

I know this from the tranfer station end. And this is California. One of the better recycling states. 😔

Some of these corporate trash companies just don't even care. 😔

They will say they have three different types of bins, yet will only give out two.

Hazardous wastes often get dumped in the regular trash. And we just had a compactor trash truck catch on fire just yesterday. Huge mess and the fire department had to put out the fire.

@DeWayfarer Most people are hypocrites when it comes to recycling.
I watched the truck load all the recycling bin contents into the truck. Because there was so much non-recyclables, the whole contents of the truck will go to landfill.
Not the truckdrivers job to separate, it is the publics' duty to ensure correct disposal into the correct bins.

@Gusman yeah, yet hazardous wastes are putting EVERYONE at risk! 🤬

I’m sure the rubbish is only 1 of many issues .

@Gusman you on a fixed income ? Any way to move ?
Gusman · 61-69, M
@AthrillatheHunt I would love to move, but the minimum cost of another rental is twice what I am paying now.
Plus, availability is almost zero.

@Gusman I hear you.

Do you have rats or other marsuipial critters digging about the bins? Let them know it helps keep the deadly brown snakes away!
Gusman · 61-69, M
@GerOttman No rats or other marsupial critters around. Though how would I know what comes out at night.
Only Bin Chickens (White Ibis) and crows scavenge about.

@CreyvinMoorhead Can't comment on what I do not see.
My advice? Rent/buy a stand-alone abode. 🙂
Then any problems will be of your own making.
