I dont watch commercials. Iv learned to mental block out advertising of any kind. Even if its a pop up on the internet all i see is the close button.
Infamous607 · 51-55, M
@GuyWithOpinions
You don't ever see commercials. Ever.
GuyWithOpinions · 31-35, M
@Infamous607 well i see them but as soon as they come up im distracted or focused elsewhere
Infamous607 · 51-55, M
@GuyWithOpinions just messing with you. I know what you mean. I have a thing where I try to close or change commercials before I know what it is 😄

I don’t make significant purchases based on advertising. If I’m avoiding a business, it’s either based on their track record or a bad personal experience I’ve had with them.

Chick-fil-A is the one I don’t like that people seem to want to argue with me about, because apparently it’s one of those businesses that seems to be part of tribal politics. My reason for avoiding it is quite simple and apolitical. The location that opened close to my home in Illinois years ago offered free chicken sandwiches as a kickoff. The sandwich I had was bland and unremarkable and reminded me of the microwave chicken patties my mom would get at the grocery store in the 80’s. As a consumer with choices, I’ll take the Popeyes sandwich over Chick-fil-A 100 percent of the time. For some reason, it bothers some people when I voice that preference, which I find funny.

@LordShadowfire Another such company is In-N-Out Bergers. They as well have bible verses on the bottom of their disposable cups.
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@DeWayfarer I'm aware. They also support anti-LGBT legislation with their profits, none of which come from me.
Liberty Mutual with Doug and LiMu Emu... and I DID boycott them along with a nasty email alerting them to the irony of their ads. "Only pay for what you want". Well, their saturation of commercials costs money, and that money is taken into consideration when calculating premiums. So even though we don't want those mind-numbing commercials, we ARE paying for them.
HoeBag · 46-50, F
@RogueLodyte Oh yeah, anytime I pull up something on youtube on my phone (typically music) it plays that annoying cr4p.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
I do not remember what they were selling, but the old commercial had a toddler dropping a cell phone into a toilet bowl and the toilet bowl wasn't completely clean.
I thought, if you can't even clean a toilet bowl for your commercial, why would I use any service you offered?
There have been so many. I can't pick just one.
RoxClymer · 41-45, M
@MsSwan
between all the junk programs and bad commercials I haven't watched regular tv in over a decade

Well I dropped my SiriusXm radio account after the last election but the commercial that was most unbearable was called Wesley financial group, I think, and a guy named Chuck Mcdowell. His commercials littered the airwaves morning noon and night. Extremely annoying voice selling help getting out of timeshares. Truly unbearable took the enjoyment out of listening to radio. Horrible voice no doubt has a closetful of trump dolls
HoeBag · 46-50, F
Well, the ad is like 40 years old now but McDonald's used to have this ad for some "McDLT, people are dancing and singing around about some d4mn hamburger. The second-hand embarrassment is almost lethal. The one with Jason Alexander (who I cannot stand)

I guess it is not relevant today but it is the WORST ad I have ever seen in my life. Watch at your own risk.
AngelUnforgiven · 51-55, F
I don't have ✌Cable✌ or regular TV ...(That's air quotes) I use apps to watch TV so I don't see many commercials
Drug commercials and anything endorsed by celebrities. I really don’t need Tom Selleck trying to convince me to reverse mortgage my house or Henry Winkler schmoozing me into buying his preferred hemorrhoid cream.
HoeBag · 46-50, F
@RogueLodyte True, it is still funny how he was The Fonz but then in later appearances, he is this total dork.
Also yeah I agree about the car warranty commercial. 😄
@HoeBag He's an 'actor'. I read somewhere back in the late 70's or early 80's that he always was a total dork. The "Fonz" character was all an act. Who knows? 🤷
Infamous607 · 51-55, M
@OlderSometimesWiser Yeah that too
Infamous607 · 51-55, M
All the commercials about free government money for seniors. It's almost always a black woman with a very urban accent or an old white guy telling me that I only have till Friday to claim my free money. Because the government doesn't want every body to know.
HoeBag · 46-50, F
@Infamous607 Ads like that on youtube are the reason things are going back and forth about using adblockers on there.

YT wants you to see ads but then they allow scams.
hunkalove · 70-79, M
All commercials and advertisements. I try not to buy anything like that.

Too many in that category for me to choose one.
devonman · 61-69, M
The annoying noise that is supposed to be midis. I mute most ads .
HoeBag · 46-50, F
@phoenixrising You notice that is one of the only companies that DOESN'T use some beautiful model to advertise?

Maybe because it is easy to assume that less attractive people produce worse body odor? I don't know.
@HoeBag Yeah that's something I wonder about

@LordShadowfire my bad bro. Oddly enough when my mom died in 2018 I gave them her car , so it works lol (it’s a Jewish charity that sends poor Jewish kids to religious summer camp )
LordShadowfire · 46-50, M
@AthrillatheHunt My favorite joke whenever that commercial comes on is to play dumb and ask why anybody would want to give cars to kids when they can't even drive.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@LordShadowfire the off key piano in that ad haunts me
