Since money is always the defining element, still, how someone is I can't see how? Maybe in a more fair world where it doesn't just profit the rich, then maybe - yet I think it's healthy for people to work and have purpose.

That's not even expressing how technology/social media is creating a divide in understanding and empathy.

We still don't know. We're where we were with the motor car in 1930 - it was an established fact of life, but one of which we were a long way from understanding the long-term consequences.

With AI, lot depends on the way societies and politicians handle it. If they allow all the gains to accrue to the 1% (a pessimistic example I know, but not an outlandish one) then only the 1% will benefit. Not the rest of us.

Don’t believe AI will take over. It won’t end up being cost effective. Company’s are spending millions only to find out they are regretting it because so called AI is failing miserably at what it promised. The college educated bright ideas aren’t panning out as advertised. It’s only as smart as you can teach it to be. It can’t make decisions. It can’t start anything. They were expecting to be able to sit in their fancy office controlling their manufacturing facilities on their computers. They are finding out real world problems don’t make it that easy. They are pissed because their cameras watching the plant are showing red lights on their high dollar AI devices because they don’t work and when we tell them it’s impossible to make them work their solution is to turn down the sensitivity so the green lights will stay on. 🤣😆 Now they are telling us some orders will require the green lights to be on and if red lights come on then we have to scrap perfectly good products. The green lights will only remain on if we lie to the device and turn down the sensitivity to the point that it’s not actually monitoring the manufacturing but it says green light was on so we’re good essentially lying to their customers about their products being monitored by AI and they can rest assured they are getting the best certified products all the while the humans are doing the job making sure the products are good. Not AI. They could have given everyone a substantial raise instead of spending millions on AI that cannot do our job. 🤣😆🤣

Mostly negative. There's good applications but those who control the platforms' only care about replacing workers with it

Depends on a lot of things, who knows, maybe we'll get lucky and they'll takeover and treat us all like house cats. Imagine that, being kept fat and happy and comfortable. From the day we're born to the day we die.
Key word in post was "takeover". So, detrimental.
KingofBones1 · 46-50, M
The only thing that's going to be beneficial from the AI takeover is the corporate bottom line saving on labor cost and the main threat besides job removal is the advancement of AI to the point if it ever becomes totally self-aware I think we all remember that movie
Donotfolowme · 51-55, F
Very dangerous
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
Not until it gets out of statistical type of thinking and far far more data input sources.

Basically today's AI are sensorially blind. And totally dependent on deep learning (human input).
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@DeWayfarer It also depends on what it is used for - and that is also human input.
Nitedoc · 51-55, M
It will be end of all humanity! I'm not a doom-sayer but we are going to lose all control of AI very soon!
PinkMoon · 26-30, F
Detrimental.
FreestyleArt · 36-40, M
No.

It won't disappear but however, it's going to get spanked with a belt, and wearing a leash.

More restrictions are coming for A.I.

It will be mostly used by State. Feds and boring for entertainment.
ArishMell · 70-79, M
How can anyone give a sensible answer to a question based on a pure allegation?
FreddieUK · 70-79, M
What 'takeover'? An assumption too far.
WowwGirl · 36-40, F
@FreddieUK weirdos
YoMomma ·
Both it’s a rising power which will be used for both good and evil 😏
Didn't you see the movies?? It'll eventually end us 😁
WowwGirl · 36-40, F
@BrandNewMan but I'll be last

With AIs like Grok it would be like letting someone run everything that has something to hide.
Wait …we got that now!
Thodsis · 51-55, M
The humans that own the computers will benefit.
badminton · 61-69, MVIP
If the billionaire class get their way life will be like Solent Green.
WowwGirl · 36-40, F
Yes destruction of humanity, now bow to your Queen.....
hunkalove · 70-79, M
It's just some nerds' greedscheme.
