My councillor is the same. She was surprised first time n says "This is about you..." Also has yer therapist mentioned to u "You are the best client I ever had"?? I say thanks but I think if she says it to all her clients?

I think when it’s your therapist, they are there not for the small talk, but just to get into things. So don’t take it personally and next time just say hello don’t ask your therapist how she is.

That's just manners, I'd expect a whole lot more from a therapist. Are they helping? I'm suspicious of their motivation now, is it just a job or do they want to help?
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@GeniUs Well one thing that has NNOT been good was they minimized my PTSD, saying that because I 'talked regular ' and not comatose , that I would probably just be rejecte for even partial disability . And completely change d topics. I really did not like it because just because I'm talking in a normal way doesn't mean I don't have CRIPPLING anxiety. But, they will offer a few more ideas than past therapists. They gave me a positive affirmation today so I was grateful.

@Coralmist Most importantly try and follow them what they told u on a regular basis. If I am guessing probably 95% of things to do comes from the mind. So my councillor didn't say to me "run 2 miles" or "do exercise" but said "Next time u see me tell me one positive thing that happened to u." Where is THAT positivity??? All in the mind.
This was WEEKS ago and guess what? Everynight and most morning I think of one positive thing that happened in the day! When we wake up in the morning we should be happy that the sun has risen n Earth is still spinning 2 POSITIVE! We get outta bed without aches and still alive 2 POSITIVE! IMAGINE IF FROM THE 4, IF ONE FAILS!!!
I could have thought of one positive n thas it. This positive thinking is until the negative goes away from the mind could be months could be years. In short therapy is like school. Teacher has given you homework it is up to you to do it. I could have thought of one positive and end it there! Then next week lay out all my problems and find new solutions you gotta stick to one and keep it.
My first ever advice that I eas given I do it but not on a daily basis anymore. Sometimes when I feel the need for it.
I thank my councillor but she says it actually me who did all the hard work.
ANYONE can be yer therapist but it's up to the clients to do it or not do it.

If she is a good therapist, she will spend the next hour actually finding out how you are.

@YourMomsSecretCrush Just like my councillor! 🤗

Isn't it a bit redundant for your therapist to ask "how are you?" I mean, her job is to talk about how you are doing for like the next hour or so anyways. 😅
Coralmist · 41-45, F
@Nightwings No I mean it's just a courtesy really. I ask about her occasionally too and we don't talk about just My issues, we talk about society in general.

I hate questions..
The standard chit chat from every co worker on Monday morning..
‘What did you get up to on the weekend’?
Me: why ? You a cop? You writing a book? 🤔
How’s the family?
Me: why? You don’t even know them?

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Well I mean a general how is it going? And when they just say Good. It seems, I don't care though how it's going with you too. 😟

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Omg, yes! I hate small talk on Monday mornings. I used to avoid it at all costs when I was working in an office with people.
MartinTheFirst · 26-30, M
It's even worse when they ask you how are you and doesn't expect a response
