I wonder why this is so important. Who's afraid of what?? Is the whole poly-gender-thing somehow a threat to a "manly" masculinity?
(Personally I couldn't care less about how many genders there are.)

@helenS It suddenly became a thing as soon as nobody cared anymore about MAGA throwing fits about vaccines and facemasks.
They desperately needed something to get outraged.about and so they went all in with that new old cause.
Are you familiar with the 2 minutes of hate from 1984? Basically that

@helenS I think the issue is educating children that they can change their gender which goes against nature.
helenS · 36-40, F
@Heavenlywarrior ... at least it goes against cultural traditions.
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
@helenS yes it is a threat when your daughter works all her life to be good at something then a boy pretending to be a girl comes in and wins easy.

@helenS Trump keeps harping about “the Nuclear Family” so that’s what he’s standing on. At least for now.
helenS · 36-40, F
@smileylovesgaming Yes that's true. I heard about some examples, although I would assume it's a very very infrequent thing.
helenS · 36-40, F
@Heavenlywarrior Nothin wrong with the "Nuclear Family". Question is, why do some people disrespect alternative pathways?
Heavenlywarrior · 36-40, M
@smileylovesgaming that should put an end to that … it’s clearly unfair.
smileylovesgaming · 31-35, F
@helenS or they go in girls restrooms or the locker rooms.
Heavenlywarrior · 36-40, M
@helenS because we are human and bias for our own reasons. Everyone has the right to “Believe” how they feel.. it may not be an objective truth but that is their right.

@smileylovesgaming I'm sure voting in a cabal of billionaires will now fix the U.S. single greatest problem - the utilization of public bathrooms
Musk, Bezos and Zuck have been staying awake all night to think of a solution to that

@smileylovesgaming Good trick! 😏

@Elessar it’s going to be an interesting next few years with this line up

@helenS It's surely the classic liberal principle, even though using that word in that sense is now very old-fashioned. You can do what you like, so long as it doesn't harm others. So, you can identify as any gender you like, so long as the only people affected are like-minded ones. But if, for example, you are a man who says he's a woman and wants to play in female sports teams; or even, less dramatically, that upsets or causes anguish to your family; then that is, at least arguably, different.

@Heavenlywarrior I'll tell you already what happens: Republicans no longer need a wedge issue to win the election, so they'll all just go quiet on it. Dems already didn't bother much about it (see how many mentions there were of bathrooms in Harris's campaign, virtually zero). You'll suddenly notice less chatter about the topic, as 99% of it was initiated by Republican agitators and bot, then Elon or Trump or anyone else will tell you they've "fixed" the issue and you'll believe it because you no longer see as much "fighting" as before.
Meanwhile they'll have become richer by killing regulations or cutting their own taxes further and you'll be here cheering for them while you become poorer. Rinse and repeat that's exactly what y'all have been doing since Reagan, except now it's getting significantly accelerated.

@Elessar true. For me and plenty others this is a good direction that puts a hold on the mass spread of that ideology to children and countless surgeries.
Elessar · 26-30, M
@Heavenlywarrior No for you and many others absolutely nothing will change because it's purely a made up issue that was spun to divert your attention away from the fact you've just installed s cabal of billionaires in the highest office.
For the record, when I wrote that Musk, Zuck and Bezos couldn't think about fixing your bathrooms issue it was *irony* 😬

@helenS I think there are two explanations. First, trans activists have, in certain quarters, a degree of influence quite out of proportion to their number. Second, it's a symbol of the wider "woke" agenda which conservatives dislike and are just beginning to challenge. (I speak only of the UK, of course.)
Heavenlywarrior · 36-40, M
@Elessar well… honestly it’s is ironic. Either way I’m excited to see what these billionaires will do and especially with technology.
