Yeah, I have, and it's horrible.

In my world it isn’t that they need me it is that I just happen to be the one who will do the thing they need. I am learning to ask for things I need to get a read on the person and to see if they will do it without monetary gain or something in return. I feel bad that I have to test them in order to feel like they can be a friend but I have had too many people who just take and take and take and when I need something no matter how small no one helps. So yeah, it’s a thing. But I am lucky to have a couple people who are in my life and make sure I know they are here for me without any strings. That means I am there for them too. So not everyone is that way. Without them appearing in my life recently I would have given up on people.

It is sad.

No, I don't feel that way. I am blessed with friends and family who show their appreciation even when I'm useless.

I think some people see me that way, but there are plenty of others who I know value me for who I am.

I think this is sort of unavoidable really. I’m not a demanding in-your-face kind of personality, nor am I gregarious and sociable. It follows that I am going to live on the backburner for most people.

Yes. I feel that way often. They either need or want something from me. They do the fake empathy thing, then are like "So I know you're going through it but do you think you could make it all about me for awhile?"

Definitely I felt some people only liked when they needed something from me.

@Moneyonmymind You also need the people who need you in order to satisy your own ego about helping them. You then whine about it in order to show what a wonderful person you are instead of keeping your good deeds to yourself.
