I’m guess you were disturbing her peace… if you needed to lower your tone she meant you were being too loud…it’s called “disturbing the peace” and can be fined by police.

I hunt turkeys....just not so much right now with all the rain....but the interesting thing about Tom's is that, they swing open their tail fans and puff themselves up to look intimidating. Perhaps the jake(immature young male) was attempting to puff up themself as an equalizer? Not sure.
