Those with the most to lose are the LOUDEST.

angela2106 · F
"Loudest" is unfair. Most articulate would be more appropriate, as those who find no need for a faith-based existence are generally of a higher level of intelligence, logic, and independence of thought, as opposed to superstitious group-think where, in some cases, to be an apostate means shaming or even death.

@Disgustedman
millions were slaughtered just because the state could do so
They weren't killed in the name of Atheism though, unlike the millions tortured and killed in the name of Christiany.

@StrictLoving
atheists like Mao, Hitler, Stalin, Lenin and Pol Pot?
Hitler was a devout christian, that why Nazi Wehrmacht soldiershad the slogan "Gott mit uns" ("God with us") on their belt buckles,

The others might have been Atheists but their actions were not for the purpose of furthering Atheism.

@Sharon Hitler expressed a mixture of religious and anti-religious views throughout his life, making it difficult to categorize him definitively as either a Christian or an atheist.

During his rise to power, Hitler occasionally made public statements expressing support for Christianity and its role in German culture. However, some historians argue that these statements were politically motivated rather than reflective of his personal beliefs. Hitler's relationship with the Christian churches in Germany was complex and often tense, particularly with regard to the Catholic Church. While he sought to exploit Christianity for political purposes, he also held negative views of certain aspects of organized religion.

On the other hand, Hitler's private statements and writings reveal a more skeptical and critical attitude towards religion. Some of his associates and close aides reported that he privately expressed disdain for Christianity and referred to it as a weak and effeminate religion. Hitler also admired certain elements of Germanic paganism and saw it as more compatible with his racist ideology.

A person's actions are the best way to ascertain their beliefs. Based on that notion, it is pretty clear that Hitler's actions were not aligned with the Jesus's ideas.
Are you living on another planet? It’s religious people who have always been the loudest.
StrictLoving · 56-60, M
@LeopoldBloom not louder than the "woke". You must be asleep 😴
@StrictLoving You people don't even know what "woke" means. No one uses the word except aging boomers as an expression of disapproval.

The people screaming the loudest about America's decline are right-wing religious bigots, but I repeat myself.
Sharon · F
The religious groups are too busy fighting each other over which religion is the only right one.

I don't know. I haven't seen the "non-faithed" on the news yelling about their values and how the government needs to be run by them and them alone.
Sharon · F
@SW-User I've never had Atheists harass me in the street or on my own doorstep insisting on trying to "share the truth (tm)" with me either.
Redstar · 36-40, M
No, I didn't know that and neither did anyone else because it isn't true. You can't just make up a statistic to try and prove your point, especially when anyone can plainly see that it's not true anyway.

I don't know how you could even suggest that the non-religous are the loudest... that's just absurd.
Aidan · 26-30
@Redstar I didn’t make up the 84%. Though maybe my "loudest" statement is just a matter of opinion. I suppose depending on which "side” someone is on, the opposite side will always be the most prominent.
Really · 80-89, M
@Aidan
I didn’t make up the 84%.
You'll be able to provide the source then?
Aidan · 26-30
@Really I was going through a series of articles. A couple that I found are below. Though someone above posted a Wikipedia projected size of religious affliction chart for 2023. That percentage came out to 84.9% for me, not including the unaffiliated group.

They said they got 66% but I’m not sure how. 🤔 Either way the number is larger than I thought.

Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M

This is by the PEW research center dated 2015. Adding it up it comes to 66%. Christianity being the largest group at 31%. As trends go PEW estimates that unaffiliated will become the norm sometime between 2050 and 2070 in the US.
Really · 80-89, M
@Tastyfrzz This report has nothing to do with the relative size of religious vs non-religious populations. It only lists each faith's percentage of the religious group.
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
@Really um... unaffiliated means they don't belong to a church or any religion. So basically by 2050 to 2070 most people will be secular.
Really · 80-89, M
@Tastyfrzz Um Um ...
The list's own heading says it's a list of [c=BF0000]religious[/c] populations. Its authors believe 15% of people who say they are religious claim no affiliation to any specific creed.

No knows what will happen to the earth or its population tomorrow, let alone 2050.
GerOttman · 61-69, M
It has never seemed that way to me. Plenty of bible thumpers to be found. Just look under any rock, you might find one. FYI, the only true religion is mine and I'm the only one who's allowed to believe in it so the rest of you poor doomed suckers can eat farts!!
Disgustedman · 61-69, M
When you get a football player quarterback that promotes his belief in God by speaking, and then you've got another player who proclaims he's gay on national TV. Who gets more coverage?
Disgustedman · 61-69, M
@Really Tim Tebow and Scott Franz. That enough?
Really · 80-89, M
@Disgustedman Sure. Maybe now someone can research for you about who gets most publicity. Good luck with that.
Sharon · F
@Disgustedman "'He's the most self-centered humble guy I've ever met!' I couldn't find much about Scott Franz other than this short wikipedia article - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Frantz_(American_football) What point were you trying to make?
StrictLoving · 56-60, M
Non-faithed is the most angry.
StrictLoving · 56-60, M
@Sharon hitchins
Sharon · F
@StrictLoving Christopher Hitchins is just one person and he never appeared angry to me. The "fire and brimstone" preachers seem to be the most angry group. A lot of devout christians also get very angry with those who don't simply accept everything they claim without question.
