Do you interact with only those you agree with politically?

No, provided the interaction is civil.

I do have strong views on certain topics but I know many of my friends may disagree with those.

Also I like to know both (or more!) sides of arguments, and why they exist.

Very often I realise the differing sides have points of agreement or at least some compromise, may have the better of some points; or may be based on facts (not opinions, but facts) or experiences I do not know or had misunderstood.

Unless you take that position you risk never properly understanding matters, motives and views that can be hard or even unpleasant to comprehend anyway, so never properly discussing the matter itself in any useful way.

At worst, isolationism will prevent your learning anything useful about the world around you. "Learning" means understanding, too, not just vaguely seeing or nodding sagely at only those views you like. You might still disagree with whatever it is, but at least from a point of comprehension.

Not only in politics either, but in other social matters like religion, too.
