Why are women with cats protrayed as miserable?

So I'm a single women with two cats. I'm actually quite happy with them. They're fun, warm, and they're just so enjoyable to be around. There's a sigma that women with cats are miserable but I became happier and thought less about suicide when I got them. So what gives with people saying women and cats are miserable?

God I love cats, those people can contract syphilis for all I care.

@BlueVeins So empathic and loving!

@BlueVeins I tend to agree with you.

So many succumb to brain parasites, becoming 'cat ladies' and hoarding even more cats. True story!

@cherokeepatti I love this! I truly do! Thank you! Awesome!
@Oster1 Like buying a whole ham and having the store slice it up, costs less than buying the sliced deli meat and it's not as gelatinous.🤓👍

@UnderLockDown Absolutely! This is how I buy, sliced ham!!!!

I never buy processed! Thank You!

There is so much more! 😊🌷

I appreciate this story. Cats are adorable. I'm a proud co-inhabitant of two male cats. I think I've read so many stories about cat people and I think it's dreadful. It's not unique, I think, to women with cats. I'll take their affectionate purr and love over judgment any day.

it's just another stereotype... usually about women older than you, tho. cats bring a cool vibe to a home no matter what, imo
SatanBurger · 36-40, FVIP
@SW-User Yeah there's all sorts of stereotypes around older women, it's kind of sexist I think.

Because their house smells like piss. Lol jk. I’m just bored and writing stuff. Don’t mind me
Oster1 · M
@TurtlePink So true, though!

I think it's weird when people think you are miserable JUST because you have cats, like they're perfect human beings or something who never feel emotion. I'd say one would have to be miserable to bully pro cat people, if they're not putting energy into themselves but other people, then that energy isn't spent on taking care of themselves so that imbalance must be affecting their personal lives somehow.
I got a cat and I’m awesome

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout You go, Catman. 😸

Stereotypes, it's like how if you play videogames people think you're a lazy bum with no goals. As if it isn't just a hobby.
Jackaloftheazuresand · 26-30, M
Because your happiness will only last the lifetime of the cat and is dependent on their existence. The miserable you is still there underneath, you've just bought yourself some time like a drug addict on their high.

I also noticed you said you are happi-er rather than happy and thought less about suicide rather than stopped thinking about it. Now this doesn't make one miserable but it tells me you aren't living to your potential. This is all why people say this.

I don't know where you got that information but it's wrong women with p**** cats are happy
calicuz · 56-60, M
I don't think it’s a stigma so much as it's just an old running gag.
I had a cat for 15 years until she died. I don't want another one.
calicuz · 56-60, M
I had a cat once.
Woofwoof15 · 26-30, F
@calicuz then what happened to them
calicuz · 56-60, M
@Woofwoof15

He died. His name was Whiskers, and he was my little buddy.
I didn't know they were.
