Anyone ever heard of a charity called "Heifer International"?

Wondering if it's legit. Seems like a good idea, you can send contributions to help buy farm animals, seeds, etc. for farming people living in poverty around the world. Like $50 buys you a share in giving an actual heifer, $20 a share in donating an alpaca, $20 for a group of chicks, etc.

I've heard of it, and received catalogs in the mail from them. While it is not an organization I would or have contributed to, it does seem to be mostly "legit".
Yeah they have been around for a long time. I really like their approach to stuff.

Yes. It is legit. It has been around for years. I donated in the past.
Charity Navigator says it's been around for 77 years; gives it a 3 out of 4 stars "good" rating. They ding them a bit because of the amount of donations, 19.6%, spent on further fundraising. But only 5.3% is spent on overhead, so it's clear no skimming is happening.

Give.org says they're accredited.

What's my secret? I googled charity evaluation sites!

I haven't heard of it but I'm suspicious of so called charities in general ..
It’s 100% legitimate and an amazing organization.
I just saw that today. I bought a share in a goat.
