Why does everything have to get so complicated?

I’m beginning to think it was a mistake to give up the hunter/gatherer lifestyle.

You do wonder don't you.. when you look around at our artificial and stress-filled lives.. whether we are smart or whether we've just made problems for ourselves and forgotten what we are really here for
Eternity · 26-30, M
I think this a lot too. Sure we only lived for 30 years on average back then but hell these days we only live for like 18 or 20 once you tally up all the time that is truly yours.

Most of our lives are spent in places we dont want to be doing things we don't want to do. School, work, bureaucratic functions that are 'vital' to societal functionality, etc.

From age 5 to 65 we do that shit and then if we are lucky we get the last 15 to make the most out of with our now battered and tired bodies.

Maybe we damn should have stayed in the fucking wilds. The Native Americans had it right all along.
basilfawlty89 · 31-35, M
@Eternity which Native Americans? You are aware not all indigenous Americans lived in teepees and were tribes right? Maya, Pueblo, Aztecs, Olmecs, Toltecs, etc. lived in advanced empires.

Because the point of capitalism to to escape capitalism.

(I dont even know what that means Kat....)
Yulianna · 22-25, F
@Vetrov the aim of the capitalist is to escape capitalism...
ozgirl512 · 26-30, F
@Vetrov I disagree... It's feudalism under a different guise... Before it was loyalty upwards from the serfs upon pain of death. Now is loyalty upwards on fear of losing the job

Eh in my opinion it was no mistake, hunter/gatherer societies were brutal. No store to save you in the wild. I'm not saying there's no criticism of our modern day society but I don't wish to go back to no electricity either.

Kat, if we didn't give up the hunter/gatherer lifestyle we would never be able to make a good esspresso. I'm not sure if you thought all of this trough. 👫
Tastyfrzz · 61-69, M
I haven't totally. I pick wild fruits, fish, and occasionally hunt. Mostly now I let some guys on the land and they give me a piece of venison. I don't need much. For fruits I have apples, walnuts, hazelnuts, cranberries, raspberries, strawberries, grapes, chokecherries, sand cherries.... Everything has a season. I don't hunt birds anymore. Not enough of them around. I might have to thin out the turkeys next year. I also have a rain gutter garden setup for squash, broccoli, greens, tomatoes and peppers. Onions, Peas, and beans are in the regular garden.

so that stupid people can demonstrate how useful intelligent people are...

@Yulianna That too... Esspresso?

@Kwek00 always welcome...

I never was a good hunter. The supermarket suits me.
Kwek00 · 41-45, M
@jim44444 That's okay, you can shoot 2 steaks in aisle 4 or gather fruit and vegies in aisle 2. It's the modern version.
SageWanderer · 70-79, M
The older I get Thoreau had it right. Simplicity.
we spent 99% of our history "in the bush" every thing since is half assed
