"Members only" videos on YouTube are dumb as hell

Just another way for channels to leech money out of their audiences. "Want access to all my videos? Give me money!" The ad revenue they get isn't enough? Even if you're subscribed to YouTube Premium, you still have to pay extra to channels to get access to their "members only" content. What load of crap! I recently unsubscribed from two channels I was previously subscribed to for doing that. I don't care how much I might've enjoyed their content, no way in hell am I supporting any greedy-ass content creators.

I must admit that no Youtube content ever made me feel as if I missed out on anything by not having the access to their members only videos. What pisses me off though is when they cut off the video in the middle and refer me to some paid membership site like Patreon. It's usually stuff that Youtube would demonetize them for. So they are telling a story and suddenly they cut it and announce that the rest you can hear on another site behind the paywall. Eff them.

@CrazyMusicLover if it falls under illegitimate advertising, then it’s illegal. You can’t disguise a video as an ad to one’s patreon or website. Yet a lot of websites get away with any way, because of course they do.

@Ducky It's extremely common here. Actually, it's hard to find a channel that wouldn't do it anymore. They do provide content but limited. "You can listen to the whole interview at..."

@CrazyMusicLover American laws are a lot of give and take. Sure, we protect a good amount of some, but then such laws harm a bad amount of others.
