i'm a little panicked as my adblockers are not working on youtube

i really hate ads, that's why adblockers have been a life saver for me on youtube for years and years now...but i just got a little panicked as went to watch a 60s music video just before and the ads are playing?? before i can watch the video....i use a windows desktop computer, my broswer is google chrome.

anyone know what i can do? i use numerous adblockers which have worked for years no problem, so not sure what's happening now??

Yeah ever since Chrome started using Manifest V3 last summer and banned uBlock Origin I've struggled to find another ad blocker that simply works all the time.

Have you tried reloading the page? I mean sometimes when I load a video on You Tube it starts playing an advert but when I hit the reload button it will reload the page and the advert won't be there.

More often than not the problem will right itself next day though. Like dareme mentioned it might be the ad blocker you're using just hasn't had chance to catch up with You tube's latest script update.

Another thing mentioned is Firefox I keep that as my spare browser now so worst case if my ad blocker was playing up one night on Chrome I could just use that instead.

Firefox still uses Manifest V2 and ad blockers are more effective on it.

YouTube keeps changing their code to add new scripts that avoid AdBlockers.
At the same time, AdBlockers developers respond by changing their code to bypass the new YouTube restrictions.

Basically it's a never-ending battle between YouTube and AdBlockers developers.

Sometimes developers stop putting effort in a project and they abandon it, especially if it's not particularly remunerative. That's why some AdBlockers stop working and won't work again, unless their developers decide to work again on them and change their code to bypass YouTube restrictions.

I don't use Chrome, but Firefox. The AdBlocker AdGuardAdBlocker has always been updated by its developers, and in fact it always worked on YouTube.

Also, if I particularly like a video, I download it... so I can watch it whenever I want, even offline.
I find putting a video on my whiteboard here gets it to play adfree.
