who originally owned it back in them early years? 2005 - 2010 - back when youtube meant YOUtube, and ordinary users it was tailored for not big corporations or media channels hijacking it.

YouTube was founded in 2005 by three dudes who had worked for PayPal. They sold it to Google in 2006.

@Zaphod42 $1.65billion, almost $2.5billion in today's funny money. I remember spending hours on it listening to music. Like the Book of Faces it's just a shadow of what it once was.
