How much of a Youtube video do you have to watch before it counts as a view?

I don't know how a view supports the creator of the Youtube Vid. But I just noticed something else in the suggestion bar that I want to watch next, and if I watch the current clip all the way to the end, the screen goes to somewhere else and I can't find the other clip...
