What are your views on collaboration and video conferencing tools such as MS Teams and similar?

I've never used them but a lot of volunteer orgs are starting to use them (NSW RFS and Scouts NSW being the two I'm connected with).

During Covid Cult lockdowns I had nothing to do with them since my job is not in admin/management/executive circles.

I don't even have a camera/mic on my PC (it's a toughbook cf-31) so will be using an external camera for anything requiring video/audio conferencing, team interactions, and collaborations.

I do not have a camera in the PC for obvious home security reasons, same as I don't have any doorbell cam or home security cameras.

Anything that could possibly be hackable when connected to the Interwebs is not my preferred modus operandi.

So a second part is what do people recommend for USB webcams these days? Some years back (say about 10) I did have a couple of Logitech ones that I tried out though back then never found video interactions inspiring. Yeah I know there's the whole subculture now of home porn aka Onlyfans aka Instagram aka Youtube etc. making that drives sales of devices with cameras. 8-)

I WFH (which I like), and we use teams extensively. I'm on camera at least once a day for it. My webcam is logitech that connects via USB. When I'm not using it for a meeting, I just disconnect it.
