TikTok Should Be Banned

‘I feel like someone encouraged her’: Girl, 12, found dead at her Argentina home after practicing viral TikTok 'blackout challenge' – aunt says she was found hanging by a rope and friends watched her kill herself on livestream

Milagros Soto died at her home in Santa Fe, Argentina, on Friday after doing the viral TikTok 'blackout challenge'
The 12-year-old girl is said to have received a link from a classmate before participating in the dare
Soto placed a rope around her neck while she held her breath and twice tried to remove it and failed
She tried a third time and was unable to get the rope off before she died
The child's death was caused by 'mechanical asphyxia by hanging' and 'there are no signs of abuse or third party intervention'

that is very sad. China is using TikTok to access the younger populations phones. It is not good and i refuse to download it
SW-User
@akindheart And you know this how...?
akindheart · 61-69, F
@SW-User it was all over the news. but let me ask you this. do you trust China enough to take a chance
SW-User
@akindheart Well, I don't use TikTok anyway, and friends use their iPads for TikTok rather than phones. No I do not.

Not everything is about you Mit. A 12 year old girl died because of a challenge posted on TikTok.
The post was NEVER about you.
SW-User
@Budwick I didn't say it was, but you've just made it about me.

Any social media platform that hosts challenges like that should be banned, not just TikTok
SW-User
@Budwick And you know what, we've been over this. If you don't like what I say, then BLOCK ME! I look forward to it.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@SW-User
but you've just made it about me.
No, actually YOU made it about you.
Any social media platform that hosts challenges like that should be banned, not just TikTok
I think I would have opened with that.
SW-User
@Budwick I don't actually care what you think, I really don't. Goodbye.

@SW-User
I don't actually care what you think
I think maybe you do!
I mean you couldn't just walk away, you needed to ANNOUNCE that you were doing so.
SW-User
@Budwick Now that you read my comment, Blocked.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@SW-User how come you challenged me? i wouldn't lie.
@Budwick actually, she died because of being steered wrong by her friends, to participate in dangerous behaviour.

She died becuase of her 'so called friends' daring her to do something incredibly stupid.
She died because of the lack of sense and confidence to choose not to.

When you were young didn't you ever get dared to do stuff ? Didnt you have pressure from your peers ?

Putting a rope around your neck to choke yourself isnt like drinking a spiked drink.
Its equivalent to looking at bottle marked 'poision' and deciding to drink it. Its obviously DANGEROUS !....its not rocket science.

This time it was tiktok, but in reality , there are multiple social platforms a teenager is exposed to: internet sites, school, sport, clubs, neighbourhood etc.
If she had been urged to do this at school, do you shut the whole school down ?
If she had been urged to do this at the local pool , do you demolish the pool?

No.

You investigate how it happened, who was involved, and the why behind it all.
Ie: all the people who's actions contributed to such an event.

You saying a site should be closed due to this event is equivalent of saying 'all guns should be outlawed' because they kill people.
All cars should be outlawed coz they kill people. All electricity should be outlawed coz it kilks people.

If i held out a bag of lolles to you and urged you to take one , and you did, where does the responsabilty lay ?
Is it my fault?
Is it your fault ?
Is it the bags fault ?
Is it the lolly's fault ?

"A bad workman blames his tools".
This is not the fault of a computer algorithm .
This is human error. Social error.
This girl was failed by the humans in her life, and the society she is in.

Ban each one as they pop up.
We do not have accept this bad behavior.
@Budwick So your solution is to ban schools, neighbourhoods, clubs etc.?

Awesome man .....throw everything out and ignore the real problem here.🙄
Budwick · 70-79, M
@OogieBoogie I bet it's hard to be that stupid all the time.
Congratulations.
@Budwick hahaha oh look at you getting perosnally insultive....cute.

You do realise that when a person cant handle an argument with reasoning they turn to being mean instead, right?

Ive given you logic and practical examples, and all you have is calling me names ?

Thats kinda immature dude.
Budwick · 70-79, M
@OogieBoogie When you make insane comments, that's what you get.
Now, go sit in the corner and think about what you have done!
When you are ready to apologize to all the SW users that have visited this post, you are welcome to return.
@Budwick you're acting like im your daughter, (which i haven't consented to), and youre calling me crazy ?

You have a very odd defensive mechanism when you realise you are losing an argument man .

N.B. Also - I'm not into ageplay, so no thankyou.
