Checking others' profiles privately isn't a sure thing.

I'm primarily a forum surfer. I like to visit a person's profile before I comment on their posting. It's better to know your audience, and their profile may give an idea of where they're coming from.

Unfortunately, VIPs know when you've checked them out, yet they have the ability to mask their VIP status. Also unfortunate is that they may take my looking as more than it is. So I get cold-call messages from them hopeful that I'm up for chatting, friendship, or something other than just me prepping before making a forum comment.

This makes me reluctant to click on profiles altogether, which makes me less likely to post comments. Lose-Lose.

SW officials: is it really a good idea giving VIPs this ability to monitor the rest of us in this way--secretly, no less?

At least you have the good graces to do so and are an honest soul. I would rather you looked and read my profile like you said you do than not look and message me with a sexual fantasy idea like most of the men do here.

I never message another person privately without reading their profile, and I never return a follow to anyone here either without reading their profile to get an idea of where they are coming from. I personally do not follow folks and only reply to the following with a friendship if we have things in common, mutual respect, and I actually feel they would be a good friend to have, but all after reading their profile first and having some conversation in PM first.

@WillaKissing Yet (lol) I think the guys have evolved positively over the years. Where now I get an intro PM asking if I'm "getting enough", back in the days of Yahoo messenger it was more likely "are you wet?"

@gailo Your right. It is the "Hi" "Hello" first now then the sexual agenda question follows. No matter gender I always ask if the person has read my about me section before we chat though.
