A bug appears when using Firefox

In Firefox 106.0.5 (64-bit) clicking the icon on a comment to display the reactions results in the whole window being overlaid with a translucent grey. The dialog does not appear. The same translucent grey overlay appears when clicking the Contact link in the footer

Clicking the reacions icon on a post in the feed works correctly.

Both work in Vivaldi.

Why is there no obvious way to report a bug?

I occasionally see something similar and not just on SW; but I am not sure if it is a software fault or the consequence of my miss-keying something. It does not seem to cause serious problems, I just step back a bit and try again.

I do not know my edition of Firefox, but right-clicking its own symbol opens a menu including "Properties" and "Troubleshoot Compatibility" (but not the edition identity). Is there anything in this menu that might give a clue to what's happening?

@ArishMell Press Alt-H to get to the help menu. At the bottom of the menu is About Firefox. Click that and it will show which version you have and which operating system it is being used on.

In the case that I reported it looks like SW did not properly test the site on Firefox because it works on Vivaldi.

@ninalanyon Thank you.

I've just tried: yes: 106.0.5 (64-bit). Same as yours then.

I think what I am seeing is by a mistake on my part, but one I've not identified!

@ninalanyon Do you know the add-on referenced by Nuno??? And the setting?⬆️ I'm running the latest FF version
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
@bookerdana Yes, I was the one who reported it to them, I described the fix in my report to SW. Not sure if it is public, please let me know if you can read this link: https://similarworlds.com/support-ticket?tid=1705

Anyway, this is the relevant bit:

The add-on is a thing called Zoom: https://www.stefanvd.net/project/zoom/browser/options.html

By default uses CSS to zoom the page but it can also use the browser's built in methods. Switching to browser built-in seems to fix it.

The setting is called Zoom Engine, change it to Use the built-in browser zoom

@ninalanyon Thanks ,I got the "this ticket does not exist* I'll look for the zoom in setitngs but its easy to get lost down there

@bookerdana Ah, sounds like support tickets are private. Makes sense I suppose they could contain confidential information.

I got to the setting like this:
- right click the Zoom icon or find it in the list of active installed add-ons
- click the ... button to the right of the activate/deactivate button
- choose Preferences, a new web page should open: https://www.stefanvd.net/project/zoom/browser/options.html
- Zoom Engine is the first option after the video about how to use it.

@ninalanyon thank you
SW-User
@ninalanyon Well, if it's from an extension/add-on involved in that you use with Firefox, it would be nearly impossible for SW to possibly test all possible configurations.
