Can the profile pictures be enlarged when clicking on them?

I don't know what's the point of having profile pictures, when they are so small it's hard to make out what they are, exactly? Is that a leg? Or is it a dog? maybe it's part of a face...? Oh no, a shoe...? To add offense to injury, when we go to the profiles hoping to solve the mystery by click on the profile pic, the picture turns even SMALLER... I'd think that when someone picks a profile picture it's so they are trying to communicating part of who they are, something they like, something about their personality (fun? artsy? dark? intellectual?)... If there is no way to find out what those profile pictures actually show because they can never be enlarged, then the whole point of having a profile picture is defeated...
