We need New Users! => New Users are all Fake!

SW users: We need more New users here!

• New, unique, real individuals, routinely join SimilarWorlds each day.

• New Users become more apparent with the addition of the "NEW" tag.

...
SW users: No way these are really New Users!
They must all be Alt Accounts and Catfish!

[sep]

Is there any surprise at why most new users don't stick around?
when they are frequently Judged, Bullied, and told they are all "Fake"?

As SW Admins, we can see and confirm that the vast Majority of these "New Users" are indeed real, unique individuals.
(We can tell by the referring sources they come from, their IP/Device info, etc...)

[sep]

Additional Note:

Please refrain from making chastising comments on user's posts, about their interests/preferences.

We have observed many new users join here, post about something they are interested in or seeking,
then immediately made to feel unwelcome about sharing their personal interests, by other established users of this site.

(This naturally, quickly pushes many new users away from returning to SW.)

As long as their interests are Not Illegal, and Not against the SW TOS to share/talk about, other users have no businesses in bullying them about what they share.

If the post indeed is against SW's TOS or not legal, then kindly Report the incident.

We've even sadly seen some users ask for Advice about difficult situations, then be shunned or dismissed as being Fake or Lying.

(There are still thankfully, numerous users who do behave in a kind and appropriate manner, and do respond with sincere and helpful comments.)

I can see that. Hard to prove you're "real" when you get harassed by dozens of guys that think you want their sausage and demand pics (hasn't happened yet, but common on other sites).

@Magnolia21 Thank you, I needed that laugh... 🤣🤣🤣

You do not have to prove you're real, Magnolia. Just do your thing. Post about topics you're interested in, and interact with people. You will soon find out there are more than enough members who won't annoy you with "Hey you are not real" messages.
QueenOfZaun · 26-30, F
@Magnolia21 If you want people to think you're real, then verify your profile. There is no reason not to.

@Fable If they aren't even willing to post a photo for admins to see then why even be on a social media site at all? If you're real, get verified. There's a lot of men pretending to be woman on here and I find that most if not all the unverified women on here are just dudes.
@QueenOfZaun Lmao... I ain't no dude - and I refuse to have a huge photo of me placed on my profile to "verify" that fact...
QueenOfZaun · 26-30, F
@HootyTheNightOwl I never called you a dude nor was I speaking to you. If you aren't going to get verified, then don't be surprised when people don't trust you.

@Fable it's not a good verification either. And why other major sites do not use photos for verification. They request ID's or utility bills.
QueenOfZaun · 26-30, F
@Fable I have been on this site for six nearly seven years now, nearly every unverified female profile is fake. It's rare to find a female profile that is real yet not verified. If you've been on SW for as long as you say you have been; then you can't deny that there's a load of men pretending to be women on here. I'm saying that if you are not going to verify yourself, then be prepared for people to not trust you. I am not shoving my opinion down your throat. Nobody is putting a gun to your head forcing you to engage in conversation with me. People are allowed to disagree with you. I can share my opinion just as you can, you may not like it but ultimately that's your problem.

@Fable You've made good points. If I wanted to post my picture, I'd have stayed on other sites. But luckily, most people here are welcoming. Can't get along with everyone though.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@QueenOfZaun You are simply wrong on this.
QueenOfZaun · 26-30, F
@Fable I was on EP as well which was also filled with catfish and yet I think differently then you do. The administrator's post isn't about verification towards female users. It's about bullying new users. New users specifically. My point is that if new users want people to trust them more easily and reduce the frequency of people attacking them, then get verified. Period. It's a pretty logical solution to the problem. I find that to be productive and an easy solution to the problem. I'm not bullying anybody, I'm not insulting anyone. There's a fairly big difference between harassing people and me giving an opinion that you don't like or agree with.

@QueenOfZaun I'll repeat! The verification process does nothing! It can be faked and why places like Facebook don't accept photo verification.
Magnolia21 · 22-25, F
@Fable Plus it's a lot easier to block/ignore people. However, so far only one person has demanded pics, so that's an improvement. I have no intention on proving to internet strangers what I look like, where I live, or anything like that. I'm here to enjoy myself and destress.

@Magnolia21 I uhh, may have suggested there was a rule requiring new users to post nudes. It was meant as a joke. That said, obviously you are a real person but some of the other new profiles look a bit suspicious. I'm not going to block random people just cause they are new but I'm keeping my eyes open. I can remember a time on Quora when multiple new profiles showed up overnight and some of them used the same profile pic. Never figured out what game they were trying to play.....
Carissimi · 70-79, F
How long do you keep the “New” label? @Magnolia21
@Magnolia21 admin have put on a real good safe guard - no-one can send you a pic of their sausage unless you enter into a conversation with them. What used to be good is that you could go into their groups and you would know if they were dodgy by seeing the groups they had ascribed to. Now, however, they are able to hide their groups so it may not be as easy to tell..... if they do send you unwarranted images do report them!
