So now I get this text from my mom

I think you should be tested for ADD..Or ADHD. And maybe meds for it would.help stable you and your anxiety. I truly feel it would help you immensely
those are not the same things. like not at all. not saying both don’t need to be treated, if in fact you have both… but they are not the same.

As someone with ADHD I kind of find this offensive. She makes it sound like an STD lol.

I was diagnosed as an adult in my late 20s / early 30s and can also say I have a bit of anxiety but the medication for ADHD hasn't really helped that.
@Turtlepower and that has nothing to do with mood stuff or anxiety. these things are very different. ADD and ADHD are about attention span and concentration capabilities.

@JustGoneNow well it's more complicated than that. ADHD is a complex disorder that gets oversimplified. It 100% influences my moods. Just not the root of my anxiety. Anxiety, as you know is also incredibly complex and perhaps on the Venn diagram of mental health disorders there is overlap, it's not even close to two circles stacked on each other lol
@Turtlepower yup. lots of things exacerbate each other… but it’s doesn’t make them the same.

What do you think of that?
WaryWitchWandering · 36-40, F
And there is a lot of other shit from my childhood and teen years that has me always keeping boundaries with her
Turtlepower · 36-40, M
@WaryWitchWandering wow our mother's sound alike lol
SinlessOnslaught · 26-30, M
@WaryWitchWandering Okay I understand that.

Have you had a vitamin panel done lately to see what you deficient in? Just getting my vitamin levels in the right place helped my anxiety and depression a lot
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
Pft. You have had some things go down recently. That's not necessarily a mental issue. BTW ADD is really Inattentive Type ADHD.

@WaryWitchWandering Bi-polar takes some time to diagnose properly. There has to be a pattern of mood swings, depressive and manic. My husband was diagnosed with adhd late in life and I always thought there was more to it. When I had him committed he was finally diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
@WaryWitchWandering and there’s different kinds of bipolar on top of that which definitely requires a trained pro to diagnosis. Mine is the hardest to treat, I have what’s called rapid cycle bi-polar with manic episodes. Fuck me. That would be enough all by itself but I have PTSD and schizophrenia on top of it. I’m basically a fucking mess. lol
@WaryWitchWandering of course my mental illness would be complicated… just like everything else in my life. 🖤
