What's the difference between requests and regular messages?

I hardly ever check the requests, they don't really stand out.

Requests are messages from people who do stupid things, like sending the same message to 20 different people, arguing all the time, or stating that they're a 21 year old girl from California, when they were a 45 year old man from Texas two weeks ago.
