They have the ability to read DMs, but I would imagine they'd probably rather find a good book than gazing into that particular abyss.

All messages, posts, threads, comments, pics, etc, end up in databases and storage location that admins have full access to.
Even when you delete them, there’s always a backup.
It’s not malicious. Someone/some people need to administer the system. You have to trust that they don’t browse through it.

@Northwest Of course. My point was simply that the other employees, contractors, etc., should be in an access control list that does not give such access. But in fact even the administrators should not have access to private messages during the normal operation of the site; they should expect to switch to an account with elevated privileges only when necessary.

@Northwest I realize that. Just adding information about how this sort of thing is supposed to work for those who have never had the privilege, or misfortune, to have been a sysadmin.

For security reasons all messages are scanned for keywords just in case some sicko might be planning something illegal or dangerous. That’s all they’re interested in.
There’s really no such thing as privacy online because of the crucial need for safety.
Content moderators read flagged messages. 🤷🏻♂️ As long as you’re not conducting criminal activities, no one really cares what you write.
So, our privacy online depends a lot on the algorithm that detects keywords.
If you write “the cake exploded like a bomb” or “that orgasm felt like an explosion”😂
There’s a high probability some admin will read that private message just to be sure.

This is in terms and conditions
2. If you create a post, reply or comment, or send a message to anyone, we will save the contents that you submitted.
Does this mean admin can read the contents?

@Gusman Almost certainly the admins can read everything associated with the site. There are no promises of privacy or encryption anywhere that I noticed.
Whether the admins make a habit of reading private messages is a different matter. But I'd be shocked if they didn't have the capability.
