I Like Private Messages

Have you ever received a private message that asked a simple question like, "How was your day?" and you answered truthfully and elaborately?

I received one last night from someone presumably interested in starting a simple, friendly conversation. She asked, "Did you have a good day?" Instead of merely saying, "Yes," I replied in great detail.

She never responded. Then I followed with a message apologizing for overdoing it. Still, just crickets. I'm hoping to hear back from her but fear I may have driven her away.

Anyone else guilty of doing that?

I don't go into great detail when someone asks me stuff like that because I know it will be too overwhelming for almost anyone to take. But very few actually ask how my day is.

@gmatthewb I'm the kind of person who asks "How are you?" and listens to the reply. I actually want to know! We don't take the time to or risk the discomfort of listening to each other.

@otto78 I'm the same way, if I ask a question it is because I really want to know the answer. So when the other person answers, I listen and am interested.
