My instagram was banned for no reason and then they're like... you can appeal... I appeal but they want me to upload my actual ID!

no thanks! These huge social media companies have so much overreach in my opinion.

Instagram suffers from what I like to call "The reason we need to make it federal law here in America to FORCE all companies to have customer service phone lines."

Unfortunately, Instagram doesn't bother evenly enforcing rules, and even goes so far as to CLAIM that impersonator profiles are not in violation of the system's ToS. As for the ID thing...I think that's just every company suffering from a simultaneous, spontaneous case of brain damage.

Look at YouTube, for example, if you upload your ID and verify your age, they will hold that image of your ID in their system for TWO YEARS...meaning if a cyber attack occurs BOOM someone knows who are you and where you live (unless you moved and never bothered to update your ID with the new address).

At this point I think we all only use the internet out of habit if anything. Companies like Instagram and YouTube and what not do this type of stuff because they know the internet is the way of the world and no one can get offline even if they want to.

@AstroZombie With instagram and others, I wonder if people who are being asked to upload an ID are the same ones who post pictures of their 4sses like 50% of young women have a habit of doing.

Nevermind uploading an ID to a social media site, half these younger women would sell their desecrated souls into eternal d4mnation for just a little bit of validation. It's p4thetic.

But yeah in any case, the scammers would LOVE for that rule to become the norm. Then they wouldn't even have to bother to pretend to be lovers working on an oil rig or the IRS or whatever they are saying now.

@HoeBag Well at least if you could CALL Instagram and speak to a representative like how you can call a video game company or kitchen supply shop customer support line, you could find out WHY they don't do anything about it. Even if scammers try to get in on the action, it's better then the current amount of nonsense.

Seriously, I have REPORTED scammers who are impersonating Instagram accounts and almost got banned for doing so because apparently they're "Not doing anything wrong"

Impersonating people? Try to get into the bank accounts of people? And the system says "nothing is wrong"

I would ask WHY people have to ruin the internet for everybody, but I feel it's either unanswerable or rhetorical question. Either way, I gotta run. Workout with personal trainer to do.
