Watch Out for Sales on Instagram

I saw an ad for Clark shoe clearance and thought I was buying the real deal. 43.65. Clark has great shoes. Turns out to be a Chinese front. Here were the red flags:

I didn't get the shoes for almost a month. Had to email twice. I tried to track them and couldn't through the tracking number.
The order number was 970. (new company)
No way online to contact the seller. (had to email and no response for days). NO customer service at all.
Got the shoes and they were a cheap knockoff. No invoice in the package nor return instructions. They would have broken had i worn them once.
Contacted the seller again, no response.
Lucky me, I purchased them through Paypal. They gave them until April 28th to respond. A note on Paypal popped up asking me to contact the seller through another email address, also Chinese. I did. No response again for days.
Finally another email (3rd one) contacted me offering to refund me 9.95 and I could keep the cheap shoes.
I told them no, I wanted a full refund.

Paypal stepped in and refunded the full amount BEFORE April 28th.

@SW-User amazon wouldn't do anything?
SW-User
@akindheart nope. But I looked at the other reviews after and selected ones were the same. I don’t buy branded stuff there now

@SW-User I follow this lady on youtube and buy a lot of what she recommends. i have never had that problem before.

Whenever I order something online, I always check the reviews first. many times the reviews both positive and negative will help me decide if I should order from them.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@IM5688 there was nothing on them. That should have been a warning there. you are right. and once I bought the shoes, the Clarks Clearance disappeared. they were not Clark's

@IM5688 I look at the 1, 2, & 3 star reviews. I dont trust others so much now. Had an Amazon listed vendor try multiple times to 'buy' a better review. 🙄 I glance at others, but look hard at the bad ones. Try to discern patterns... Sometimes clustered around dates...bad day at factory. Sometimes same defect over time means bad design. etc etc

It is a fact of life that the Chinese are buying up Iconic international brands like Clarks. That doesnt always mean the new ownership are selling junk. But if you were hoping for the high quality. (Like Volvo) Forget it.,😷

@whowasthatmaskedman Maytag was once the gold standard. Now they're owned by a Chinese conglomerate Haier.

you should of seen the obvious signs they were bogus and not bought, you were a fool.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@ravenhill I am no fool. lots of people sell on IG and are legitimate. The chinese hide their stores pretty well. and it was false advertisement. I didn't see the warning signs Until AFTER I placed the order. Their intent all along.

I almost got hoodwinked on a tool deal. "If too good to be true... "
