Should I be concerned

My girlfriend is very social. She initiates giving her coworkers her instagram. She says she wants to build followers but also told me she doesn’t want to give her number so she gives her instagram.

I find it weird and annoying. Why give your instagram at all? Find followers another way am I right?

I admit I don’t really understand the fad, but if someone wants to build followers without sharing a phone number, why not share the Instagram ? What would be another way ?
