I agree 100% with you about due process being given to immigrants. Where Trump has put the USA is right up there among all the other Third World mentalities found among far away countries with strange-sounding names.

@swirlie From the very beginning of outlawing abortion we were starting to lean that way. Most countries have adequate child care and incentives for having kids like better education, four day work weeks but they also have abortion as part of reproductive care. The same number of women and children die in anti abortion developing worlds as much as in the United States now.
The developing world mentality started with that and then they wanted to press it further and further. Then now we have things happening with ICE.
And there's recent news that ICE is running out of budget, they had a meeting about this where they pressed Kristi Noem about it and told them that they were almost out of budget so now they stealing from us as well.
You only see that in third worlds where they got dictators and they do what they want. Break the country and turn it into mass poverty.
You can line some of the world's worst economies and social attitudes to the United States to developing worlds and draw side by side comparisons pretty easily

@SatanBurger
The stuff we're talking about here will not suddenly go away after the 2028 Election for President, even if Democrats sweep the floor with Republicans in a landslide victory.
What Trump has done and is actively doing on behalf of the 26% of all eligible Americans who voted for him in 2024, will take decades to correct or to even change course on. Some things that were aimed directly at Canada will never be corrected and are now considered permanent Trump-induced damage, an entire century's worth of goodwill and relationship-building between our two countries now totally destroyed in a mere three months by juste one American man, but who is not actually a man. Real men don't think like MAGA Republicans think.
I've always enjoyed reading your posts because you always seem to be able to get to a much deeper aspect of an issue faster than most others here on SW, which is what I find most attractive about your writing style.

@swirlie Don't get me wrong I'd love to see a few leftist victories or even democrats at this point. But we also still have extremism to combat. Even if Trump was out of office, that's a good thing but we do still have extremist beliefs that allow people like him to flourish. We could have a repeat if we don't honestly act on what's driving rising extremism.
Because half the people didn't vote and so basically a small minority has held our govt hostage.
But yeah it's going to take decades, I mean even if the US ever recovers. I don't even think we'll have the same standing we did before. I hope we can repair things but it's not going to be the same.
Especially since it's too early to look at consequences, we'll start feeling it here after awhile though.
I appreciate that, thanks 😊
