Facebook has reached a new low

Apparently now when you scroll and find something interesting, the moment you stop scrolling and want to read it/click on it... *bang!* it's gone.

when you scroll and find something interestin
Oh sweet summer child, that alone was already taken away to us circa in 2015 lol
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
@Elessar Mostly yes but I tend to get news and memes from it now and just got pissed off when the article I wanted to read simply vanished the moment I stopped scrolling.

@Elessar Or imagine you see an ad about a new restaurant in your area flash in your feed and gives you zero chance to even get basic info about it. It's so annoying.

@CrazyMusicLover It's a terrible idea to get news from there, it's an extremely biased source even as a mere aggregator.

That site is arguably the leading reason for most of the political idiocy occurring all over the world 😅

@CrazyMusicLover They prioritize articles that cause more engagement (read: are more controversial) as it'll generate them higher revenues, it's not akin to using an aggregator; plus there was the whole Cambridge Analytica ordeal, when they harvested and sold engagement data that was then used to conduct political campaigns (on the platform?) with ads tailored for each person, so not exactly something you want to trust getting your information out of.

It's better if you check the sites of 4-5 media agencies directly, than going through them.

@Elessar Literally every news media puts the most controversial articles on top, including news on TV.
If it's supposed to be tailored, then it doesn't work quite well in my case. 😅 Possibly because I do zero activity on anything anymore. Maybe apart clicking on stuff but that is also more or less random that I'm not sure what kind of data they can harvest from it. I used to mostly click on news about people jumping out of a window in my residential area or some news regarding parking rules, gas explosions, about bad weather aftermath like fallen trees etc. Politically not very juicy stuff.

@Elessar It actually might have been always happening but I have such strong filter for this content that I ignore it with the same nonchalance I do with spanking posts on here. 😆

Just right now I scroll through feed and it's all totally away from my interest. One article about the funeral of a pyramid scheme scammer from 90s and another about some hockey player. It's just unimportant noise to me and Facebook still didn't figure it out. It's shooting into darkness.

*Haha, okay, just the minute I click back on FB the article about the hockey player disappeared. It's learning fast.. 👀

@CrazyMusicLover They probably laid off some key frontend engineer and somehow the replacement resurrected a 6 years old bug, it wouldn't even bee to surprising or unrealistic lol
