@bijouxbroussard hahaha, i even get a bit of a claustrophobic feeling sometimes when I'm on this site, kind of like I imagine I would if I was stuck in one of those little lifeboats , surrounded by all that ocean, not going anywhere. Wondering where everybody else ended up

@SWNewDragon that's what the rumor was. And that's probably what we're supposed to believe, but when I think about the facts as I know them, another more likely scenario comes to mind. But I don't really know the truth. I just recall that they had just gone public. And then the site had changed a lot almost overnight. And the day they shut down was April 15th. Tax day. That's the last day to get straight with the IRS. It seemed to me like maybe they spent more money than they had set aside for the taxman.

There was a post about it on quora though. Supposedly it was the creator of EP, answering questions about the situation. I saved a link to it but forgot where i saved it. ..i think i might have posted it here a couple years ago 🤔

@SWNewDragon but hasn't the same thing happen on Facebook many times by now?

@Jayciedubb i suppose it probably has but FB has tons of money they can afford the negative publicity and it has no effect on them but with the smaller site i guess it ruined them

@SWNewDragon yeah but if it was bad publicity that shut them down, why was it so busy up until the day is shut down. Why was it such a surprise to all of us when we found out they were shutting down. I had been using that site for years at that time and it had never been as busy as it was in the weeks before it shut down. I remember thinking it was getting too crowded right before I read the news of it closing. I thought it was actually an April Fool's prank

@Jayciedubb it could have been multiple different things combined that forced them to shut it down

@SWNewDragon You’re right. The murder happened but it wasn’t the reason that the site closed.

@bijouxbroussard did they ever tell a definitive reason?

@SWNewDragon I seem to recall Armen Berjikly (the founder) citing a few reasons at the time, some having to do with the privacy aspect, including concerns about being able to protect information provided by posters.
