I Just Had A Weird EP Moment

Young man, ages 22-25, whom I had never had any interaction with on the public thread just started messaging me. Because I didn't see anything pervy or offensive in his profile, I accepted his message and messaged him back. To keep this from being filtered out of the main EP homepage, I'll post the details of the interaction below.

did you know you can have your settings set up only to receive messages from people in your circle? i do that for these reasons

I didn't know that. The way my account is set up, if someone is in my circle, I have to give them permission to message me. Then, once I've given them permission, they can message me until I block them. Is your account set up in such a way that you wouldn't even get a notification that someone wants to send you a message if they aren't in your circle?
