Some people here are odd

I've only had this account for about 3 days and already a few people messaged me.. only to say hello and nothing else.

Is that odd or is it just me? Maybe its just because I'm anti-social and expect people need/want something from me whenever they talk to me...

I ignore any stranger who leaves a message of "hello" and nothing more.

It is probably the case that they send those messages off in bulk to lots of people, and then they wait and see who will answer.

Often, the people who do that are hoping for sexual interactions.

If you are anti-social, you might consider setting up a "message introduction" explaining that you will not engage in messages with anyone until you feel you have gotten to know them fairly well through public posts and comments. Anyone who starts to message you will see that introduction first.

One other thing you should know: if someone messages you for the first time, that person cannot send another message until you answer. So if you never answer, you will never receive a message from that person again.
